Thought-Action Fusion (if I think it, it is more likely to occur OR thinking it is just as bad as doing it.)

Thought-Object Fusion (Thoughts and feelings are transferred to objects. Ex: “I thought about death while I was holding this cup so now this cup=death.”

Fortune Telling- (This related to over responsibility. “If I think it, I am responsible for preventing it from happening. If I don’t do anything and the bad thing happens, it’s my fault.”)

This is called R-OCD & it’s more common than you think! 💕💍💒👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻‍♀️

This post is focused on romantic relationships, but OCD can latch onto other types of relationships as well (pets, friends, colleagues, family members)

👇Here are some of the many ways relationship OCD can manifest👇

🤍 Obsessional doubts about if your partner is “the one.”

🤍Intrusive thoughts or urges to break up with your partner.

🤍Trying to know if you’re attracted to your partner “for certain.”

🤍Hyper-focusing on a partner’s body part and worrying you don’t find it attractive (ex: their ears, feet, eyebrows.)

🤍Intrusive thoughts about you or your partner cheating.

🤍Compulsively saying “I love you” or requesting your partner give you 24/7 reassurance of their feelings about you.

🤍Avoiding going out with your friends for fear you will “accidentally cheat.”

🤍 Using sex as a compulsion (for ex: reassurance seeking.)

🤍 Needing your relationship to be “perfect.”

‼️Please note, these experiences can happen in relationships without OCD, it becomes OCD when these questions, worries, and behaviors become excessive, time consuming, and cause distress‼️
